4 Steps to Set & Achieve Goals
'Tis the season to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the upcoming one. Whether your resolutions are big or small; academic, athletic or personal, follow the four steps of WOOP to set and achieve your goals.
What is an important wish that you want to accomplish? Your wish should be challenging, but feasible.
Example: My wish: Get an A on my biology quiz.
What will be the best result from accomplishing your wish? How will you feel? Pause and really imagine the outcome.
Example: Best outcome: I'll feel proud.
What is the main obstacle inside you that might prevent you from accomplishing your wish? Pause and really imagine the obstacle.
Example: My obstacle: I procrastinate.
What's an effective action to tackle the obstacle? Make a when-then plan.
Example: When: I finish dinner Then: I'll make 5 flash cards.
