Gathering support and building awareness
College Application Week is still the new kid on the block in Oregon, and it's brand new at the vast majority of our sites this year. That means we need to do a bit of work to ensure that the people in our buildings and communities know about the initiative and how they can help.
The CAW staff and steering committee are working on getting the word out statewide - to colleges, policy makers, the media, and other stakeholders. We need site coordinators to help spread the word locally - to students, parents, faculty and staff, local businesses, etc. The Site Coordinator Handbook and supplemental materials contain all the tools we think you'll need to promote your event. Use the CAW Overview for Teachers and Staff to inform your faculty that your schoolr or organziation is a CAW site this year. It's a handy one-page sheet that describes the intent and goal of the initiative and offers some quick and easy ways for them to be involved.
We encourage you to include your staff in brainstorming ideas for building excitement about the event -and, more importantly- about applying to college in general. The more the entire community is involved, the more buy-in and support you'll have!
Don't forget to share your ideas with other site coordinators by posting a comment here or on the Facebook page.
